If you text while you are driving, there is a very high probability that you will get into a car accident, whether it is major or minor. They are passing laws that say you can't text and drive because its like driving while your impaired. The same is said for talking on the phone while driving, but now with hands free phones, you are not at as great a risk for getting into an accident. Some people think that this does not affect them since they talk and text all the time, and they are so good at it that it only takes them a second to send a message.
